Weekly Meal Plan #2

Thought I would do a quick post on our meals for the upcoming week. I'm trying to use up what we have as we go to France in less than 2 weeks, and I have meat and leftovers in the freezer. And on Thursdays and Fridays I have my dinner at lunch time, Steve and Ben will have something different whilst I'm at work in the evening.

Monday - Ben and I are off round my parents, haven't been told what we're having. Steve will have a pizza when he gets home from work at around 8:30.

Tuesday - Sausages with pasta and a tomato based sauce

Wednesday - Hunters Chicken, made using a jar of Morrisons Hunters Chicken sauce

Thursday - Leftovers sweet and sour chicken and rice. Steve and Ben will probably have fresh pasta tortellini and tomato and mascarpone sauce and garlic bread.

Friday - Leftovers Chicken and Chorizo Jambalaya. Steve and Ben normally have some kind of freezer meal or what Steve has chosen whilst food shopping.

Menorca Holiday 2015 - Trip to Mahon

At the beginning of our second week we booked a trip through Thomson to visit Mahon, the capital of Menorca. We chose this trip because it was suitable for families, and Steve and I always like to visit another part of the island/country that we visit other than just the town we stay in. It also had time to wander around the town by ourselves - which I really liked the sound of. We got picked up at the hotel pretty early, but enough time to fit in some eggs on toast for breakfast. We had around 2 hours to wander around the town, the trip is done on market days, so we could have a look there to pick up some bargains, we did have a little look around at the end, but we mostly had a little wander around and stopped for a drink in a café.

We then went on a boat trip, this lasted around an hour, around Mahon harbour. This is where all the really expensive homes are! Some of them looked great. There was a bar on the boat supplying drinks and snacks. You do get told some information about what you are seeing whilst on the boat as well. I sat inside with Ben, whilst Steve went outside to take some pictures. If Ben was a bit older we all would have gone out together. You also get the option to go downstairs to look at the fish, again Steve did this on his own, as I didn't know what Ben would have been like.

There was also a quick trip to a Gin Distillery where, basically you just visit the shop, as neither of us drink gin this didn't interest us at all. But the bottles did look really good, and would make a good collectors item!

There is a tour guide, we had a lovely woman who told us lots of information about the island, including stories.

Overall I would recommend this trip, only if you don't plan on hiring a car, as then you can visit Mahon yourself. Neither of us drive and we thought as you get time to walk around on your own it's work doing it this way rather than getting the bus, as it was less stress and hassle.

Menorca Holiday 2015 - The First Week

The first week we just relaxed, well tried to, as it took a while for Ben to settle down into a new environment. We also were spending lots of time trying to get him to nap, which was really pointless as he wouldn't because he knew he was missing out on playing in the pool or the little soft play area.

We didn't put him in the Creche as you had to pay for it, and Kids Club starts at age 3. So cannot wait to go away again and get rid of him for the morning in the Kids Club (haha) but any fellow mummy's and daddy's know children take a lot of amusing, And it is our holiday too, and we can all do with some time to relax without the kids for an hour or two.

The soft play was great in the evening, Steve and I could sit just outside and have a drink and still be able to watch him. And there was always parents in the actual room watching their own children, and you're all just willing to watch each others children (must be he parent in us).

These are a few of the photos that we took during the first week.

Update #4

I have totally been slacking on the blogging since I went on holiday! I've not really had any enthusiasm to blog, but I'm hoping that is back now.

We had a lovely holiday, and I will be doing blogposts on that soon.

Since we got back (and whilst we were away) Ben has been having sleep issues as well as attachment issues. I'm actually thinking it may be time to drop his nap, as I struggle every day to get him to have one, and then it's a struggle at night to get him to sleep. For example yesterday he finally dropped off just after 3PM, then woke up after an hour, then managed to fall asleep on me downstairs, of which I left him there till I needed the toilet, haha! But then he didn't fall asleep till 10PM, and still woke up at 7:30AM today. He is tired if he doesn't nap, but I figured he will get used to it eventually, and hopefully go down easier at night. I'm thinking about introducing quiet time instead, where I'll leave him in his bedroom for an hour on his own with some books and toys, so I can get things done like housework or blogging, or a workout if I'm really lucky (these have also gone out of the window due to lack of time).

To help me with my blogging I have purchased a laptop, so I can blog downstairs from the sofa if Ben is being a good boy and entertaining himself - we will see how this works out, when I get back into it fully next week.

Just as I actually want to blog we're off on another holiday in just under a month, back to France, so I will be taking a break then. And there is no internet access, as it's Steve's parents house, so will be nice to get away from the Internet for a while, sometimes you just need to switch off!

Now off to get Ben up, as he's obviously not going to nap today, he has always been one for not sleeping much.
